Margarita Davila, DVM

Dr. Margarita Davila

Dr. Margarita Davila was born and raised in a warm, traditional professional family in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Following two years at the University of Puerto Rico, she transferred to University of Florida in Gainsville to complete her Bachelor's of Science Degree. Following college, she completed a summer internship program at the National Animal Disease Center in Iowa, a part of the United States Department of Agriculture, where she published a paper on gene studies concerning food safety in animals.

In the fall of 2003, Dr. Davila enrolled in the Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine and began her veterinary education. During her studies, she completed several summer externships in dermatology and internal medicine, including stints at the University of Pennsylvania, Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital, Affiliated Veterinary Specialists and Florida Veterinary Specialists. She was named an "outstanding student" during her clinical rotation at the Veterinary Outpatient Clinics. Her professional interests include dermatology, ophthalmology and internal medicine.

Dr. Davila is fluent in Spanish, which makes visits and veterinary care for pets of Spanish speaking owners very comfortable and easy.

Outside of work, Dr. Davila shares her home with Lala, a Yorkshire Terrier that she adopted from a family who couldn't afford her care. The two love to run together—sometimes for more than two miles! Her interests also include independent and foreign movies, traveling, going to the beach and reading, especially books by Latin-American writers.
